Job Description
Under general supervision, the position requires that the employee will operate a full-size school bus in transporting children to and from schools, field and sports trips, and otherwise as assigned. Employees in this class are responsible for following an assigned route and schedule in the safe and efficient operation of a school bus. At all times operates a school bus obeying all applicable federal, state and local traffic laws and the enforcement of Portland Public Schools Student Bus Conduct Code. Inspects, performs minor maintenance, and cleans assigned vehicle.

Qualified high school students may take up to two college courses with tuition paid by the state. A regional arts and technology high school provides hands-on courses in growth fields such as health care, robotics and “green” construction.
More than 60 languages are spoken by students attending the Portland Public Schools. Multilingual students represent about a quarter of the district’s enrollment. The district’s diversity prepares all students for their roles as world citizens.
