Job Description

We have several openings for Special Education Ed Tech III district wide for school year 2023-24.
The positions are 35 hours per week. The positions are for school year only. Eligible for benefits, which include paid medical and dental insurance for the employee.

The individual(s) in these positions will be providing support to students in a variety of settings as Ed Techs are assigned based on student needs.
Students require support given emotional and behavioral challenges; learning disabilities; cognitive disabilities both in the regular and special education settings.
The assignment may include working with students to support functional goals that include personal hygiene, self-care, and executive functioning, among others.
  • Candidates for this position must have the ability to create and maintain positive relations with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain a high quality of service.

    Performance responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    1. Carry out district and school policies, rules, schedules, regulations and goals consistent with school philosophy
    2. Assist the teaching staff with the implementation of lessons and assessments
    3. Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by teacher
    4.Guide independent study
    5. Assist to carry out IEP recommendations
    6. Alert and advise the teacher to any problem or special information
    7. Score and record achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for students
    8. Identify and utilize community instructional resources
    9. Assist the teacher in organizing and setting up cumulative folders and upkeep of student records
    10. Assist with supervision of students
    11. Participate in in-service trainings.
    12. Work with students who present with behavioral and emotional challenges.
    13. Provide direct instruction to students using district-approved evidence-based curriculum for reading, writing and math.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Must hold or be in the process of obtaining a Paraprofessional Authorization for Educational Technician III and have an approved Maine Criminal History Records Check at time of hire.
    • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
