Job Description

•Work with and instruct students with disabilities individually and in small groups
•Participate in IEP meetings and provide input
•Complete IEP documentation as per state and federal regulations
•Conduct achievement and/or behavioral assessments within specified timelines
•Collaborate with educational support staff, related service providers, and administrators
•Regularly communicate special education students progress/needs to parents and staff
•Communicate with school administration on student issues as needed
•Participate in school faculty meetings and staff development workshops offered by the district
•Enforce and uphold all District and Program/Building policies, rules, and regulations
•Perform all other duties assigned

    Job Requirements

    • Qualifications:
      •Possess or qualify to secure a valid Maine Teaching Certificate with K-8 Special Education 282 Endorsement or qualify to transfer current certification
      •Meets State and Federal requirements

      Qualifications preferred:
      •Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
      •Special Education experience working with students with behavioral and autism needs
      •Understanding and experience working with Individual Education Plans
      •Understanding and experience of Behavioral Intervention Plans and incentive plans
      •Possess experience with data collection and analysis
      •The ability to promote high expectations, demonstrates a caring attitude, and establishes a learning environment that enhances academic achievement for students
      •Be enthusiastic, flexible and have a commitment to student achievements
      •Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods and sound assessment techniques
      •Exemplary organization, communication, and leadership skills are essential attributes
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
