Job Description

As the head coach, you will deliver measurable results in developing, enhancing and promoting the Swim Program that will be distinguished by the teams' display of integrity, citizenship, character, work ethic and their ability to overcome adversity. To instruct students in appropriate methods to be respectful of themselves, their opponents, and officials regardless of the outcome of their event.
Qualifications: Love what you do, bringing your experience as a player or as a coach to the students. Must have knowledge and expertise in the strategies, methods and techniques for a successful sport offering. Should have the ability to manage all aspects of the Swim Program and earned or will ern credentials of Maine Coaches to include CPR/AED/First Aid and Current Maine CHRC (fingerprinting).

    Job Requirements

    • Supervise student athletes. Proper preparation and planning so that students are appropriately ready for competition. Supervise/manage off season programs to help players enhance their abilities (when appropriate). Serve as a role model Instruct the players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport. Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises (when appropriate). Supervise athletes during practices and competition. Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete injury. Distribute and collect equipment, uniforms. Participate in parent and award nights. Prepare necessary items for awards night. Maintain appropriate paperwork as required by the athletic office. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators. Work to enhance and display the philosophy and objectives of the department. Works with the trainer, Director of Athletics to ensure proper medical assistance is available and plans are in order for emergency situations. Administer district athletic codes. Schedule must be flexible. Will include evenings and weekends. Good communications skills. Three years of varsity coaching experience preferred Previous experience working with high school aged athletes preferred. Follow guidelines for fundraising activities. Include coaching questions.
