Job Description

Middle/secondary Special Education teaching position within an educational day treatment setting.

Requirements include. Maine certification # 282(exceptional students 7-12) and experience.

Desire to work with a team of teachers, Ed Technicians and Social workers.

Knowledge of academic accommodations and a broad interest in curriculum.

    Location Description


    RETC - A Regional (Tuition Based) program - Grades 4-9
    SOS - A Secondary Auburn Board based program - Grades 9-12

  • Special education students with diagnosed emotional, behavioral or mental health difficulties
  • Eligibility – Students from Poland; Mechanic Falls; Minot; Turner; Greene; Leeds; Lisbon; Lisbon Falls; Auburn and Lewiston. Other systems as openings are available.


  • 175 School Days / following Auburn School Department calendar
  • Extended school year programming for students to maintain education and behavioral skills
  • School day: 8:30 am -2:30 pm
  • Average 18 Months enrollment. (Diagnostic to 2 years)

  • This is a Special Purpose Day School that provides students with emotional and/or behavioral supports.
  • All staff are Special Education Trained / Certified or Licensed.
  • Class size is generally five (5) students with one (1) staff (including Educational Technicians)
  • This is a small school consisting of a maximum of 45 students in elementary, middle, and secondary level classrooms.
  • This program provides Social Work services such as:
    - Group and individual work with students and families
    - Work with problems in community that impact school success
    - School and community resources are mobilized to enable students to benefit from education.

  • Students are referred through each school system's P.E.T. process.
