Administrative Assistant - Special Education Responsibilities
Contracted year July 1 - June 30 - Benefits pro-rated to start date prior/after July 1
POSITION SUMMARY: This position requires a flexible, personable, and patient self-starter with outstanding organization, written, and communication skills.
Skills: Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Strong verbal and written communication skills Comfortable with routinely shifting demands High degree of attention to detail Data entry experience Working knowledge of general office equipment Experience as special education administrative assistant preferred.

SPECIFIC SPECIAL EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITIES: -Is highly organized, developing organizational strategies for daily tasks as well as for the special education department and proactively meets deadlines. -Works well with members of the Special Education Department, other school faculty and staff, administration and Director of Student Services. -Maintains strict confidentiality. -Effectively maintains, manages and retains student records. - Processes and manages timelines and paperwork for IEP meetings. - Schedule all IEP meetings, completing appropriate corresponding paperwork, in order to maintain compliance with the laws and regulations that pertain to meeting dates. - Maintains communications with service providers: speech/language, social work, O.T., P.T., school psychologist regarding timely electronic posting in IC of testing/assessments/annual reviews in advance of scheduled meetings. - Is knowledgeable of and maintains both paper and electronic copies of required paperwork and forms that accompany the variety of meetings. - Is the point person pertaining to things all Special Education related: procedures, protocols, processes, forms, timelines. - Ensures that paper copies of student IEP documents are included in special education cum folders.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma is a minimum; Post-secondary degree/certification preferred. Five years previous office / financial experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: 1. Ability to read, write, and interpret documents pertinent to the position of administrative assistant IE: purchase orders, financial/accounting software, invoices, W-9, and 1099. 2. Ability to communicate clearly and correctly in speech and writing to staff, vendors, students, parents, and community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 1. Ability to manage, assess and make decisions regarding software programs and Budgeting. General accounting skills as required to manage various activity accounts, team accounts, and financials specific to MHS.

Maine School Administrative District #35 (MSAD #35) serves the two rural communities of Eliot and South Berwick, ME. Students from nearby Rollinsford NH also join us for grades 7-12.The district consists of five school buildings (Grades PK-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12) with a student enrollment of approximately 2,140. Located on the southern Maine border, our towns are approximately 50 miles North of Boston and adjacent to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The communities are able to maintain their rural character while having access to facilities and technology normally only available in larger urban areas.
Marshwood High School consists of Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 from the communities of Eliot and South Berwick, Maine, and Rollinsford, NH. MHS provides services for approximately 674 students. The school is located in Southern Maine, one of five schools that make up Maine School Administrative District 35.

Contracted 225 workdays per fiscal year to include all student days (175); the week before the first day of school and the week after the last day of school; and summer days to be determined in collaboration with the building level principal.
