Sanford Middle School is seeking a Special Education Teacher(s) for the S.E.A.L. (Social Emotional Academic Learning) Team. The program promotes and develops successful learning for students who are eligible for IDEA services, manages an assigned caseload, maintains regular communication with those students, their parents, and appropriate staff members and is responsible for development, revision and implementation of IEPs. The Behavior Classroom Teacher effectively supports the education of students who exhibit behavioral concerns and are identified with an emotional or other related disability. Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction in academics in a special education setting. This position will work with administration, counselors and instructional staff on a daily basis to support and foster student growth.
The ESSER position may be funded with federal funds.

-Current Maine CHRC (fingerprinting)
-Experience using technology
-Highly organized; able to manage a small group of students
-Positive and enthusiastic demeanor with excellent communication skills
-Ability to make positive relationships with students, staff and community
-Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
-Ability to supervise, evaluate and provide clear direction to educational technicians assigned to the program.
-Physical ability to train and/or assist staff in physical management of students in crisis(Safety Care Training)
-Understanding and ability to implement de-escalation strategies and techniques and experience with restorative practices is a plus
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
