Job Description

Windham Middle School seeks a community minded and innovative educator to develop and lead an alternative education focused program for middle school students. The program will build a sense of belonging in students struggling to be part of the academic community through adventure based activities, social and emotional skill building, flexible academic support, and project based learning units based on science and social studies standards.

Candidates for this position must have experience in building strong relationships with students and families, providing effective attendance support, and creating innovative learning experiences both in and outside of the classroom.

Performance and duties include but are not limited to:
1. Providing academic coaching and support
2. Building strong relationships with families, students, and staff
3. Cultivating other aspects of the program as they develop
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Strong professional collaborative skills and experience
6. High degree of self-motivation
7. Independent work ethic
8. Creative approach to curriculum development and interdisciplinary teaching

      Maine teacher certification required and have an approved Maine CHRC at time of hire. Selected candidate will be subject to a criminal history background check.

    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
