Job Description

Sanford School Department has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift custodian at Sanford High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center. Duties include (but not limited to):

• Maintain a clean and efficient work area
• Comply with rules and regulations established by the head custodian, principal(s), and maintenance supervisor
• Work with other custodians as necessary
• Maintain a good working relationship with staff, students and the general public
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times
• Operate floor equipment, exterior grounds-keeping equipment
  • Work closely with Administrative staff to set-up and breakdown for events

    This is a full time (40 hour per week), year round position from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm with a 20 minute paid lunch break. The work days are primarily Monday through Friday. The hours may be adjusted when school is not in session. Benefits include paid holidays, sick time, personal time and vacation as well as paid health and long-term disability insurance with access to dental insurance and retirement through Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MPERS). Uniforms and a shoe allowance are included per the Custodial Union Contract. Overtime is available on a rotating basis.

    Job Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED
      Current Maine CHRC (fingerprinting) or ability to obtain
      Ability to lift 60+ pounds as necessary
      Ability to be on his/her feet for 8+ hours per day
      Pre-employment physical (provided by school department)
      Previous experience as a custodian preferred; experience in a school setting helpful
      Ability to work alone or as part of a team and interact successfully with all ages
      Dependable, honest and detail oriented
      Flexible in responding to the changing needs of the district (i.e. hours, locations, duties, etc.)
      Self motivated and willing to go above and beyond to provide a safe, clean learning space
